The gym offers an AMAZING amount of services for just a very inexpensive fee -- in addition, there's just so many basketball courts!
I would most definitely recommend gregory gym! There's so many squat racks, basketball courts and cardio machines that you should have no issue getting in a good workout!
I would say that there's not a lot of square footage in the actual weight room -- if they could find a way to increase the size of the gym, that would be amazing. Other than that, the equipment is up to date, there's lots of classes and everything's clean!
My goals are to cut down at least 10-20 pounds and get as lean as I can!
I personally didn't take any classes so I didn't get to interact with the instructors.
Super quick!!! All you have to do is speak with someone for a few minutes, take a picture, pay and you're good to go.

Membership is included in tuition. I went for the first time with a couple of friends and they got me into going.
I'd recommend Gregory Gym to any UT student or anyone who lives on campus, but if you don't live near UT, probably not. Parking is a nightmare, and even though Greg is very nice, I don't think it's worth it to pay that much for parking or spend so much time looking for a spot every time you want to go to the gym.
There aren't enough bike machines. I went at 6:30 and almost all the bike machines were in use. Ratio of bikes to other cardio machines is too low. Also the machines are free but lots of other amenities, like classes and using certain rooms, are expensive and add up fast. (I just want to use the rock wall but it's like $100)
I'm trying to lose weight and get stronger. Honestly, the best part about Gregory Gym is its location. I pass it almost every day and it guilts me into going because I really don't have a reason not to.
I haven't personally been to any classes led by instructors
I didn't have to sign up since it was included in my tuition
I am a student at UT Austin and access to this gym is included in our tuition that we pay.
I would recommend it since it is on campus and comes with the tuition so why not use it.
It is always super crowded. The locker room is outdated and dirty.
My goal is to lose weight and this gym has the necessary equipment to do that.
The instructors are all nice and willing to help you out.
There is no commitment. You can either use the gym or not.
I am a student at The University of Texas so I get automatic membership. The gym is very large and there is a lot of equipment.
Yes. They have a lot of equipment and machines and it is always very clean and nicely organized. The areas are all very spacious and there is a very well equipped weight room as well as several different courts for many different sports.
The locker rooms smell which is typical of any room so that's not really much of a problem. It gets really crowded at night most days.
I just want to be more active and healthy. Body positivity is important.
Pay a crazy amount for the tuition here at school and you'll get to use it for free.
The recreational center offers a lot of options and the hours are perfect to workout anytime.
Yes I would definitely recommend it because the hours are greats and the people are nice.
The lockers and bathrooms could be cleaned up a little more.
My goal is to workout whenever I can and with gregory gymnasium’s hours it helps a lot.
The instructors at gregory gymnasium were very helpful.
The signing process was very simple and there’s no commitment.
I joined cause of it's easy accessibility and the many resources they offer. I also found the staff to be very friendly and the quality of equipment to be high.
Yes, because it contains a plethora of various fitness and sports related things.
Everything is fairly high quality, although the gym could stay open for more hours everyday, especially on weekends.
My goal is to increase muscle size and strength. Greg gym is helping me by providing me with a variety of fitness equipment and opportunities.
I have had no experience with instructors, although they seem to be very helpful.
The signup process was quite easy and took very little time.
It came with my college tuition. I am already paying a ton for school, might as well use their free facility too.
The actual work out area is small and cramped. Everything is always in use. You are waiting like 20+ minutes to change machines.
They need to make it bigger, for a campus of 70,000+ students, a slightly bigger gym would make all the difference.
Goals are to avoid the freshmen 15. Honestly the dread of having to go to a busy cramped gym aren't really helping with that.
They just yell at you to not leave your water bottles on the ground. But there isn't a lot of places on the equipment to put them....?
They are crazy about having your student IDs and will only give you 2-3 times of looking up your UTEID... like its hard?
I was a student at the University of Texas and I’m a frequent user of the gym. Its on canpus and its the biggest gym at UT.
It is a great scene for recreational sports and it features a lot of like-minded students who care about their fitness. They offer a lot of programs for those seeking a healthier lifestyle. The facility is clean and very properly maintained at all times, and its open very early in morning and late at night.
The weight room is quite small considering the size of the gym. Often times I would find it too packed to workout and a there aren’t that many machines. A one hour workout would end up taking an hour and a half.
I wanted to start lifting more weights to become stronger and I feel like Gregory Gym really helps because it features so many students who have the same goal. It can be very motivating.
I haven’t gotten the chance to interact with any instructors but from what I’ve seen they all seem very nice, professional, and knowledgable.
The sign-up process was so quick and easy I hardly remember it. The whole thing took 5 minutes and ever since then I’ve never struggled with having to sign up again or simply checking into the facility itself.
This gym has many power racks, and as an aspiring powerlifter it really helps. Many other gyms emphasize machines but I really believe that barbbell training is the most important kind.
Yes because there are so many facilities, including racquetball, saunas, many cardio machines as well.
I wish they could add a reverse pec-deck machine. It would also be cool if they made the sauna easily locatable as it took some time to find it.
I wanted to lose bodyfat but now I want to become more athletic and strong. The power racks and the dumbbells really help.
They really helped me with form for my barbell row, and workout tips.
I just had to be a UT Austin student and it's free.
Because it’s a school gym and easy access. I joined because as a UT student they give us feee access.
Yes because it’s well staffed and clean. The staff is very friendly and helping to everyone who comes in.
More space because it gets easily packed. So basically I just want there to be more equipment available.
Trying to become overall more fit. The amount of cardio equipment to free weights will help me achieve that.
None whatsoever. There are instructors and they look knowledgeable. However I’ve never had a need to use an instructor.
Compound movements I needed to do go 3-5 times a week. There’s no actual sign up process because it is a university gym available to everyone.
I joined Gregory gym because I am a student at the university of Texas and use it as a free alternative to a paid gym
I would reccomend this gym because it has a diverse variety of workout equipment and several squat racks
Less treadmills and cardio equipment needs to be in the weight room when there’s already so much downstairs
I want to become a sexy beast and this gym helps me work out with friends
I have no previous experience with any trainers and or instructors
I literally did not do anything other than be a student at UT
I joined Gregory Gym because it was close to me (being on the University of Texas campus) and it had a wide variety of facilities and equipment, all of which meet my needs.
I would recommend Gregory Gym because it is in an optimal location for college students, and is perfect for anyone looking to get a quick workout before or after class
The gym's cleanliness definitely could be better, and since it is a rather old gym, a lot of the equipment is outdated and rusted
My goals are to lose fat and build muscle. This gym helps me achieve my goals by having ample areas and machines for cardio, and also having weight training equipment to build muscle.
I have not had any prior experience with an instructor.
I was a student at UT, and within my tuition, I received full access to the facility.
I wanted to lose weight and find fun classes to join. I'm prepping for a half marathon and needed more focus in my exercise.
Yes!! It's a large facility and there's always somethnig to do. The classes are great but you can also do solo workouts, easily.
I hate paying for a locker, so sometimes I just drag my stuff around.
My goal is to run a half marathon in February, and I'm reaching that goal slowly with cardio and endurance classes.
