i joined because i wanted to get fit and i heard some pretty good reviews for this gym establishment. It is also very convenient for me as it is really close the the place i am currently employed at.
I would overall recommend this gym since it's not the worst gym, but not the best, it's well, just a gym. This location does have quite a few machines, and the layout is kind of cool. It's a little on the dated and dirty side. They could use newer machines and cleaning staff. It is also open 24 hours which is a major plus
The equipment is pretty outdated but it does have a lot of machines that seem to work pretty well. It is quite dirty in some areas of the gym but overall it is a gym after all. The locker rooms are nice, well at-least the men ones are.
I have made tremendous progress from benching a rep of 100 pounds to now around 155-160 pounds which is great for me. I have also only been going around 3 times a week.
The general manager is always helpful and knows anything and everything when it comes to memberships or random questions you might have before joining.
The sign up was very simple and there was no real commitment required. The manager helped me sign up and gave me a hasty tour of the gym
This reviewer got a $10 Amazon gift card in exchange for the review
the majority of the space is used for pumping weights which is what it's all about. I love the layout, making training easy by grouping the machines by body part. A whole wing dedicated to legs and chest- best idea ever.
It's open 24/7, so no excuses! Management is great and the gym is always clean. Best part is that the patrons actually come here to work out- not sit around on equipment playing on their phones like most other gyms I've been to.
There are things to like about this gym. The staff is friendly and helpful. The space and the atmosphere are okay. There's good appliable hours and lockers + water is nice. There is a wide array of aerobic and weight lifting equipment. If you are interested in SPIN, however, AVOID this gym. The air conditioning in the spin classroom has been out for six weeks, and there is no commitment on when it will be replaced. This is Texas in the summer time. AC is a cost of doing business.
It seems to be very outdated and the smell is not great and pretty overpowering when you walk in the door. I've been to many group exercise classes here and more often than not, either the microphone system is malfunctioning or the air conditioning is not working.
With a lot of room for free weights ive been doing great coming at comfortable times and working out effectivley. with no judgement or fear of others crossing me. I enjoy my space and enjoy that golds offers it.
The general manager is always helpful and knows anything and everything when it comes to memberships or random questions you might have before joining. The associates are friendly--always greeting me when arriving or leaving the gym
Sign up was very easy, but also scary due to them not allowing me a free trial or a traverse aroun d. it was a bit rude and unfair to not give any free day trial to see what i can see. or use of the classes such as SPIN. but it was worth it other than the heated atmosphere.
Free incentive from work was honestly my motivation but I'm glad I kept paying for my membership .
I like that the gym is clean and that it caters to a smaller population. It's never too busy in there.
It would be helpful if they had more machines because there's not that many.
I've become a much healthier person as a result of the gym.
I've done the group workouts before and they're fun. Not a ton of pressure if you can't keep up.
I was required to commit for 12 months through my employer.
I needed a cheap gym that offered the basics to get the job done. Gold's gym is common and cheat!
This gym is overall welcoming. From the outside it doesn't appear to be much but once you get inside it provides the necessary accommodations
Alot! Trash cans are usually overflowing, weights are seldom in the right place, and staff is not friendly. It's one thing for members not reracking weights, but when you see trainers not reracking weights it shows lack of respect and pride to the place they work/train.
I joined 2 years ago, since them I have maintained my weight of 180, but i am much leaner today!
The trainers will brother you to get a session till they figure out you can't pay for it. So yeah lol.
It's pretty common to sign up in the gym, but i signed up online!
This gym is one of the most recommended in the city, due to being in the middle of the city
Yes, the layout of the gym is unique, there is more machines than free weights that hit all the muscle groups.
While the gym does the best it can with the space it has, the gym feels cramped during certain hours
I still have some weight on me, but i can see the difference in strength and energy.
The exercise classes are nice, you get to meet a trainer and other people in your level of fitness who want to grow together, its soothing
I joined because I wanted to hangout with my family and stay in shape at the same time.
Highly recommend it because it is a great franchaise and it has many great equipments. Fantastic staff also.
The bathroom is a bit outdate it could be nicer, however that is a minor point.
My goal is to continue to gain strength, and not gaining too much fat.
Andy from the HIT workout is fantastic. He is such a great instructor, he will help everyone in the class to squeeze the last bit of juice.
Walk in or sign up online. Sometimes they will call you and hit you up with limited time discount.
Large gym near my job that has great equipment and flexible hours including 24/7.
Yes I would. This golds gym has everything including a theater cardio room, pool, and a woman's only area
This is probably asking to much but I'd like it if they provided towels. This would probably increase the dues but I'd be worth it
Weight loss, physical fitness, strength, endurance. They have new free weights and cardio equipment.
Only done one free training session and it was helpful. I'd consider more in the future.
Month to month with a sign up fee. Pretty standard from my experience.
For the health benefits and meet like minded people. Just moved in the city and was looking for a new gym,.
I wouldn't recommend. Not good equipments. Poeple are rude and not a great ambience
Cleanliness, equipment, quality, locker room, classes
I'm planning to switch to another gym . This is not helping
easy process with a down fee and a sign up fee
great ambience, a variety of equipments and a very helpful staff. The gym is pretty good in area as well
I would definitely recommend. Positive experience throught and lot of helpful staff to achieve your goal.
Number of dumbells over the smaller weights.
To add a a variety of workouts to my routine - lots of equipment.
3 months commitment was required to sign up
The gym was close to the apartment which I lived in so it just worked out perfectly!
Yes, I would definitely recommend it! There's a deadlift platform that allows for some olympic lifts and enough squat racks!
If there was just more room in the gym that'd be perfect!
I would like to lose 15-20 pounds and get more lean!
I did not get to meet any instructors!
The people there were super nice and did not force the contracts too much!
Needed a place to lift weights, the gym is very close to home. Allows me to head over anypoint in time.
Yes. Great place, has tons of classes and has daycare. Clean, and allows me to do my workouts.
Lifting platforms, minimize costs for daycare and should allow you to sign up to all classes.
My main goals are to maintain weight and increase strength.
I have not signed up for personal training.
After getting countless emails on promos I caved in.
I wanted to lose weight, so I decided to join a gym where others are working out alongside me to keep myself motivated.
I would recommend it because the facilities are clean, and there are many amenities and different types of machines for you to get your workouts done.
The pool could be bigger, and the lockers could be cleaned more for the price that I pay.
My overall goal is to lose weight, and so far with working on some of the machines (treadmill and biking) and free weights, I have lost some weight so far which is motivating me to keep going.
I haven't done any classes at Gold's Gym yet, but planning on it in the future.
I signed a three month contract for $100 per month. There was a promo for $1 that Gold's Gym was offering.
I wanted to find a place close to my new apartment that had the equipment I wanted for my regular workouts and this one was close.
If you just want something basic that can get the job done, this is a good place to join. No frills, nothing super fancy, but it helps me stay active.
It can get a little smelly in the gym, but that's part of being in a gym. The staff are nice enough, the members keep to themselves.
My goals are to be more active, and I know that having a conveniently located gym will help me with that.
I don't have experience with any instructors, I just did workouts on my own.
I had to sign up for year-long commitment, which I wasn't super excited about, but I got a discount for signing up when they had a promotion going on.
I originally joined because my doctor wants me to stengthen my muscles to avoid osteoporosis.
Kind of. I think Gold's Gym in general is great because they have lots of equipment but I've had trouble with other patrons not being sanitary with teh equipment.
DEFINITELY equipment cleanliness. It's unfortunate, but I'll see people sweat buckets on the leg press and not clean it up.
Well, I'm just trying to strengthen up all my muscles so I'm definitely stronger now.
I recently lost a lot of weight and wanted to continue to work toward fitness goals.
I would not. Other than the physical training and instructors, their staff customer service is abysmal.
Half the showerheads in the ladies locker room were messed up.
I wanted to do classes. Their class schedule seems to accommodate housewives and retired people.
Amy is one of the class instructors and she is absolutely motivational and friendly. Macy is a personal trainer and she is really helpful and friendly. It's a shame the staff running the place is so horrible.
3 months must be paid. The manager told me at the very end of the process that there was a 30-day satisfaction guarantee where I could back out of the contract. They weaseled their way out of honoring the guarantee through literally lying to my face and then turned around and said that I was lying. I hope that a competitor builds something comparable out this way soon.
It was close to home, so didnt mind stopping in when i can, it gives me something to do while my wife is at work
It's the gym in the heart of the city, it's crazy how their location fits in. I cannot stress how important location it.
Although it does the best it can with it's space, i feel it is cramped.
I just want something to do with my time throughout the day
They are always hassling you to get a session in, but i heard rumors they trick you into paying.
All you have to do is go to the front desk and ask to sign up, they get you set up the same day!
I enjoy working out and wanted to lose some weight. Gym is very convenient and up to date!
Great location. Always clean and staff is always helpful. Plenty of equipment and very modern
The hours of operation. I wish it could be open a little bit longer.
Just trying to aim for weightloss at the moment. i work and live downtown so the location itself makes me not have an excuse
I have not had any experience with any of the classes.
Signup process was easy. Just go in there tell them what you want. It is their job to up sale you and have you sign up for training and if you feel like you could benefit from it then take advantage of their sign up discounts.
I joined because it was close to my house off of south Lamar. I was a member at LA Fitness but find the atmosphere to be much more motivating at Golds. I also love that there seems to be way more options for working out in terms of equipment! The front staff is super nice as well!
I would recommend this gym to all people who live south. Especially those who like a good atmosphere with everyone there to help motivate. The classes are great!
I would not mind if the equipment would be a little more clean and that all of the equipment be in working order. I have had a few times that some of the equipment doesn't work.
My goal was to drop 20 pounds. I have already lost 14 pounds so I am happy with my decision to go here!
I have only taken a few classes from body pump, yoga, and one ab class. All the instructors were women, and they were all fantastic! Helpful and hard classes which I love!
It was an easy process. I just went online to Golds website and signed up for the month to month membership. At the time they did not have a sign up feee so I think I paid a little over 60 to start!
To maintain a healthy lifestyle. was looking for something different a traditional gym.
Would recommend it for people who like doing strength training. spinning classes are good too
cleaner showers and locker rooms would be great. the sauna room is really small.
I have been losing weight and the workouts here are helping me. I lack upper body strength and the machines are are helping with that.
havent had much interaction with the instructors but everyone seems helpful.
a three month commitment is required. the signup process is not as easy. could be improved.
I joined to get in shape and loose weight. A similar reason to most other people I believe.
Its alright, traffic downtown is ridiculous, but if you are are already downtown and looking for a way to let traffic die down, you can go here!
The locker room wasn't as nice as the other locations I have been too. I also think that although their equipment is new, there isn't enough.
My goals were originally to help with the bikini body. But they ended up just being a good incentive to let traffic die down. Sweat off the stress from work.
There are plenty of instructors all the time, none are as social as in the other locations though.
Easy, simple fast sign up process. I assume the sales people are getting commissions off you for making the process happen immediately.
I joined because once I graduated I was looking for a new gym and Gold's prices are competitive
Not really. My first experience was awful. They don't tell you that you have to pay for parking in their garage - or get an extra annual pass for hundreds of dollars. On top of that, after I paid to park in their garage I was harassed by a homeless person in the stairwell.
The parking situation. They should have doors connected to the garage instead of going all the way out and around the facility.
There are a ton of levels for different types of work outs. I tend to stick to the cardio.
I haven't meet any of the instructors at this location.
The sign up process was easy, but I did it at a different location.
To prepare for endurance hiking in Colorado. Since I got my desk job, I have gotten out of shape and needed a jump-start.
Absolutely. Its a very friendly gym with a movie cinema with great picks. I also really enjoy the sauna.
I wish they had a steam room, there is nothing quite like it to open up your airways after an intense work out.
My goal is to convert this fat into muscle! The instructors give you great ideas for meal plans to help you along the way.
They are so nice, I don't have one-on-one appointments with any, but if they are free they will always come over and help correct my form.
Easy, you just sign up, add your account and get an awesome 3D body scan!
Workplace Benefit so there was no initiation fee. I also like to go after work to avoid traffic.
Not your typical testosterone meat head Gold's Gym. This is a really nice facility. Always clean!
more stair masters - they are always full. The rest of the equipment is in great shape.
staying active and preparing for mountain hiking - gold's helps me keep up my endurance
I haven't use the instructors yet, but I hear great things.
With my company there is no sign up fees - look into partnering Gold's with your company (its free for your company) and waives initiation fees
I joined Gold's because of a discount at my job -- it made the most sense because I was paying twice as much at my other gym.
Absolutely, this one is a great location and not too crowded during the week. They have all the equipment you could possibly need.
I wish there were a few more showers for some of the crowded mornings, but aside from that everything is great.
I was looking for somewhere to workout during lunch, and this location was perfect for me. It's close to my job, so I just hop over really quick from 2-3 and get a workout in.
My job offers a membership discount which made it really affordable and easy. I like their selection of weights and machines.
There is something for everyone. Cardio, weights, strengthening and you do not have to be tied down to one gym.
Locker room. Most of the lockers are always not really locking properly.
Being open most days and providing me with the necessary equipment that I need.
Friendly though I do not interact with them as much
Through my company it was super easy. I filled out a form and HR took care of the rest. I did not have to sign up for any time commitment nor have any start up fees.
This reviewer got a $5 Amazon gift card in exchange for the review
I joined because my employer had a partnership with them, which gave me a discounted rate. I wanted to work out more, and it was a decent price.
I would recommend it if you want to focus on lifting over classes, and are okay with a bro-y, very macho environment. For people who want a more family feel, or who prefer classes, I would not.
Everything was fairly clean, but I would prefer more class offerings.
My goals are being more active at large, nothing super particular. It's certainly a way I could go about that, but it hasn't been super accessible for me.
I didn't have many experiences with instructors there--I typically did things on my own.
It was an easy sign-up process, but the commitment was for a year, which is a lot longer than I would want normally.
I joined because I wanted to improve my overall health.
I would recommend the gym because everyone need to get in shape.
The equipment quality was a little old and could be improved.
My goal was to lose weight ans this gym had a lot of equipment that helped me pursue those goals.
I have not had any experience with an instructor yet.
There wasn't any signup process that I couldn't remember.
I wanted to get into shape. It was a close gym to my office.
I recommended it to my co workers since it's so close.
The way I would improve it is to add some more equipment because at times there is a lot of people at the same time.
My goal is to lose weight and golds has helped me because of the equipment they have to do that.
There wasn't any commitment when I signed up. Not that I remember.
Location is important. This gym was between work and home.
Not sure yet, I recently joined and have only been twice. So far, I would recommend it based on price, wide range of equipment, and location.
I would appreciate more diverse classes later in the day (evening). The equipment was a mix of, "ugh this is definitely in need of a tuneup" to "this is a few years old but in good working order". The gym and locker room seemed to be clean.
I'm hoping to lose about 30-40 lbs over the next year. Motivation is key, I'm not sure how the gym itself is helping in that yet. I'm not interested in paying additional for the personal fitness options.
I have not had any experiences with the instructors so far.
3 Month initial membership requirement, with a 30 day money back guarantee. The process wasn't too painful which I totally appreciated. One minor hiccup was the computer system wasn't working as intended. I also wasn't interested in a body profile or any of those options.
I wanted to get healthy and start a workout regimen.
Yes, it is clean and has all the equipment necessary.
The showers are always taken, so maybe expand the locker room for men and women.
Yes, I've been reaching my goals after 12 months of attending.
I haven't had any experiences with instructors at this gym.
It is managed via payroll deduction through my employer, so it's very convenient to join.
I received a corporate discount and I wanted to gain muscle mass on my body.
I would recommend this gym. It has everything you can possibly need for a great exercise.
I would prefer a indoor pool at this particular location.
My goals are to build muscle strength. Gold's gym has all the tools I need to improve for strength.
I do not have any experiences with instructors at this gym.
There was a six month commitment that was required when I signed up.
I switched over to Gold's because I started working across the street, and I get a sweet discount as a benefit.
Sure, I love it. Never too crowded -- and they have that awesome room where you can run on the treadmill and watch a movie.
Would love if there was a basketball court and if it was a little bit bigger.
I'm trying to lose a few pounds, and it's helping me achieve that mostly just because of its proximity to my office. I can easily go before and after work, and I no longer have an excuse.
I haven't had an experience with an instructor aside from them helping me set up my account. They seemed very nice.
I signed up through my job, so I really didn't have much interaction.
I joined because I wanted a gym close to me but in a network that had multiple places in town.
I would recommend it if you are in the area but beware.. it's not the newest gym.
This place is old. Not to trying to discourage visits, but it's pretty run-down. The machines are old and a lot of the leather is cracked. Definitely a gym that needs from TLC from Gold's.
I'm looking to shed some pounds and improve my cardio.
I have never really interacted with them so I can't say much. I know the front staff is friendly.
Process was easy. I did a year contract for like $30 a month.
My company offers a discount and it's across the street from the office.
I would recommend it to people in the Westlake area because it's small and feels personal.
More equipment would be nice. Cheaper boot camp options would help too!
My goal is to keep losing weight so working out is the obvious way to it.
All the instructors there have been great! I joined a boot camp class for a few months and had a really good experience.
I was required to sign up to a year contract through my employer but it's payroll-deducted so it's effortless.
It’s close to my house and I liked all the classes that they offered.
Definitely! It’s a great gym with amazing people working there.
Maybe offering a better selection of times for certain classes
My goals are to get into better shape and having a good support system through the gym is definitely helping me get there
They are just so friendly and motivating always encouraging and lending helpful tips
It was a $1 enrollment fee with a 3 month commitment
Because I work in the physical therapy field and needed to get stronger
Yes! Very clean and nice staff willing to help. Open space.
Make it bigger. There’s always a lot of people during rush hour.
Get stronger. The machines/ workers are helpful and willingness to help
They’re so sweet and caring! They just want to help
Was easy, just talked about my goals, payment plans, etc
To burn belly fat.
Improve my stamina.
Improve my physical strength.
Improve my body flexibility.
It's about time! I was a member of Gold's Gym for many years but canceled my membership. Most of the Gold's around town that I went to had horrible customer service and I would dread having to work out any type of issue that would arise. After a few years at Lifetime Fitness I decided to give Gold's another try. I am very happy I did once I discovered the Cypress Creek gym and was able to work out very well.
Cleanliness must be improved. Disinfectants should be used to clean out the area.
My goals are physical fitness, mental fitness, and spiritual fitness. Gym is just a starting point.
Amber has always gone out of her way to answer any questions I have had and has gone above and beyond to help me when I needed to modify my membership. I definitely recommend this gym knowing that Amber takes care of her customer as well as she does.
Was a straight forward process. Allows booking for 1 year or a month.
I joined to get healthy and become more active. With many health conditions, I was not able to work out until recently.
I don’t recommend this year. It is overly crowded, and the staff is horrible.
Better customer service would be a must. Staff needs to become more friendly and trained better.
I’m not currently using the gym anymore. The customer service left a horrible taste in my mouth.
The kids club staff is a joke. They have no clue how to ha doe kids and they are liars.
Minimum of a 3 month commitment and the process was lengthy filling out all of the paperwork. All on paper too.
I wanted to focus on consistent overall health and wellness.
Very professional, and a very helpful friendly staff.
The only improvement that is necessary would be more parking available.
I’m trying to loose weight and slowly get back into shape. I mainly do water fitness classes. The pool is great.
The instructors are very knowledgable and informative.
I am using a corporate membership. The contract is paid upfront and we are charged every pay period as a deduction.
I desperately needed a gym to exercise. I tried to work out at home and it didn't work for me.
Absolutely! The thing I love the most about this location is the kids club. The women who work there genuinely love the kids and engage them.
Meh, not much. But, if anything, the group fitness rooms and basketball court could use a couple of extra sweepings throughout the day.
My current goals have to do with hitting particular weights in my lifting. People talk about goals at this gym and always ask how they're coming along.
I haven't met an instructor who is not kind, knowledgeable, and excited. The group fitness instructors are top notch!
It's been quite a while since I signed up (7 years I think!), but if I remember correctly I had to sign a 2 year contract, put down my last month's dues, and pay a startup fee.
